CARNATION PERSONALITY PROFILE

The carnation personality will fill your days with love and promise you the earth - and really mean it! Bright ideas and a powerful imagination fill the head of the Carnation personality, who will always have pictures of flowers, trees, or angels in heaven around.

They also love all the sensuous things of life such as perfume, silks, expensive gourmet snacks. Being the ultimate floral, if they wished, Carnations could become the classic temptress or Don Juan, but that role is not for them. If the Carnation is male, women will want to mother him. Everyone can sense Carnation's child like innocence and trust in people.

Carnations tend to be very gentle people who sometimes cannot quite get a grasp on life events, tending to dream just a little too much, particularly when things aren't going well for them as they think they should.

One characteristic which can cause sadness and depression in their getting too involved with other people's problems. Which they take on board but which brings them down, particularly if they feel unable to help.

There is no way a Carnation would hurt a hair on any persons head, and they can be a great comfort for people suffering loss or hardship . With inner wisdom and knowledge, they may be a devotional kind of person, but there is a warmth to this personality which can invite closeness and is, sometimes, unfortunately misinterpreted as sexual advance or social climbing by other people with a more lowly nature.

History in all its forms holds a fascination for this personality and they're quite likely to search for their family's roots or read history books - more likely being interested in the Renaissance than the Tudor period.

Carnations also enjoy art tremendously and although they may not take it up as a profession - because they don't have the confidence to promote interior design, anything in fact in which this natural artistic inclination ca be expressed.

Carnations are found in all walks of life but they tend to drift towards those jobs which do not push them into the spotlight. Any job that hides them behind a desk to which the public come is ideal, such as working in an employment agency, or in a bank; anything that brings them into contact with the public but not in an extroverted way. Carnations tend to be delicate in stature, movements and mannerisms and their discipline and grace would make them good classical dancers.

Although Carnations don't seem to have much luck themselves, they never win lotteries for example, they do seem to have a magical effect on those around them. If you go to a casino, take a Carnation with you and have them stand next to you at the roulette wheel - luck might just then come your way!

Monogamy is the only kind of relationship Carnations want and understand. Infidelity would never even cross their minds. To them, a perfect, faithful marriage is the true joy of life, an essential aspect of being in love.

Being monogamous, knowing the partners are for one another only, gives carnation special feeling, and repelling advances from outsiders gives Carnations a kick far more exciting than affairs or promiscuity.

Carnations need to love like a flower needs the sun and, if they don't have it, they'll kid themselves they do, or go looking for a partner. Carnations cannot go through life alone, and if one lover leaves, you can be sure there will be another coming around the corner fairly soon.

Without love the Carnation is very down and depressed. One of the most noticeable traits of Carnations is that they cannot communicate their own sorrows and despairs, which they often have.

It seems as if they are always there for everyone else but that nobody is there for them. This is particularly tragic because Carnations find it difficult, at times, to love themselves.

The delicate temperament of Carnation leaves them vulnerable to spiteful words and actions and they can bruise very easily and become extremely hurt and sad. As parents, Carnations are very soft and gentle and not very hot on discipline. Consequently, their children take advantage of them and get away with everything.

When they're in a negative frame of mind, Carnations can be self-destructive and depressed, and they cut themselves off from life. They can grieve for years over the death of a parent, for example, or over a love that has been lost. Delicate beings as they are, Carnations can nurse a bruised ego for years, or hide the abused or hurt inner child for a lifetime.

it is not unusual, after an episode of hurt, for a Carnation to go to bed, pull the covers over their head, and stay there for a week, not emerging even to answer the phone.

Carnations give too much of themselves away. They'll burn themselves out worrying about what they should be doing with their lives instead of simply doing what they enjoy. Partly, this is because they lack the courage of their convictions. When they're on form, however, Carnations, are full of laughter, love and care. Indeed, the one thing Carnations always have, is copious amounts of love to give to all living things.

Susan Worwood MIFA Reg., Aromatherapist and author:

'Carnation is a comforting, yet sensual personality which makes one feel euphoric, as if sitting in a sanctified place with a sense of inner calm, expectant of the pleasures life has yet to provide.
